The Honolulu Marathon 2011

Our 17th anniversary celebration was a trip to Oahu to run the 2011 Honolulu Marathon.  Running a marathon has been on both of our "bucket lists"  before the big 40!  We spent 18 painful weeks training and then spent 5 days in paradise as a reward.  The marathon was awesome and harder than I expected. We had a chance to visit Pearl Harbor on it's 70th anniversary and talk to some of the 90 year old survivors.  We took surf lessons on Waikiki beach and thought we were really awesome until we went to the North Shore for the Billabong surf championship and saw what real surfing looked like. A fun romantic adventure for Dubs and I.  Marathons are like childbirth...in the mist of the battle you say "NEVER AGAIN"  but as soon as you finish you forget your pain and look forward to the next race!  TFL_LK
